Clementi Home Cleaning for Tenants, Students and Landlords
4 October 20265 min read
Clementi has more rented rooms and shared flats than most HDB towns, so home cleaning here is often about fairness and handovers as much as dust. If you share a flat near the universities, a scheduled part-time cleaner settles the "whose turn is it" argument. If you are a landlord, a clean between tenants protects your flat and your rental. And if you are a family in one of the newer high-rise blocks, the usual weekly routine applies, just with more windows to wipe.
Who lives in Clementi
Clementi sits in the west, between Jurong East, Dover and the West Coast. It has a strong education flavour: the National University of Singapore is a short ride away at Kent Ridge, Ngee Ann Polytechnic is along Clementi Road, and the SIM campus nearby hosts several universities. That brings a steady flow of students, researchers and young professionals renting rooms or whole flats.
The town centre is built around Clementi MRT station on the East-West Line, with Clementi Mall above it and the bus interchange next door. Dover MRT, one stop east, serves the blocks near Singapore Polytechnic. Clementi Woods Park and the green belt along the Ulu Pandan area give residents some open space.
Housing comes in two clear groups:
- Older HDB blocks around Clementi Avenues 1 to 5 and the West Coast side, many with decades-old kitchens and bathrooms, popular for room rentals.
- Newer, much taller BTO blocks near the town centre and along Commonwealth Avenue West, where young families and couples have moved in.
There is also private housing on the edges, from the landed homes around Sunset Way to condos near the Clementi and Dover stretch.
Cleaning a shared flat in Clementi
Shared flats break down when cleaning depends on goodwill. A few rules help:
- Split the flat into shared and private zones. The kitchen, living room and common bathroom are shared; bedrooms are each person's own job.
- Share the cost of a regular cleaner for the common areas. Splitting a fortnightly visit across three or four flatmates often works out cheaper per person than a weekly takeaway.
- Agree on a fridge clear-out day. Expired food is the most common source of smell and argument.
- Keep shared supplies in one place. Since you provide the products, a labelled box in the service yard avoids the "we ran out" problem.

For landlords: between tenants and at move-out
Clementi's rental market moves with the academic calendar, so many leases end around the same months. A detailed clean between tenants is the easiest way to keep your flat rentable at a good price. Focus on:
- Kitchen: the hob, cooker hood exterior, cabinet interiors and the fridge
- Bathrooms: limescale on taps and shower screens, grout, the toilet base and the exhaust fan
- Bedrooms: wardrobe interiors, window tracks, mattress tops and under-bed areas
- Walls and switches: marks around light switches and door frames
Our guides to cleaning between tenants and end-of-tenancy cleaning to protect your deposit cover both sides of the handover.
For families in newer high-rise blocks
Higher floors bring breezes and views, but also more glass and more dust blowing onto ledges. Interior windows, sills and grilles that are safely reachable from inside are part of a cleaner's work; exterior glass that cannot be reached safely should be left alone. Kitchens in newer flats tend to be open or semi-open, so wok-cooking grease travels further into the living area than in the older, closed kitchens.
How long a clean takes for typical Clementi homes
Estimates for a regular clean in a maintained home. End-of-tenancy and deep cleans take considerably longer.
| Home type | Regular clean | Between tenants (empty) |
|---|---|---|
| 3-room HDB, older block | 2.5 to 3 hours | 4 to 5 hours |
| 4-room HDB, shared by 3 to 4 tenants | 3 to 4 hours | 5 to 6 hours |
| 4-room or 5-room new BTO | 3 to 4.5 hours | 5 to 6 hours |
| Condo unit, 2 to 3 bedrooms | 3 to 4 hours | 4.5 to 6 hours |
Booking a cleaner in Clementi
Cleaning Assistant serves homes in Clementi and across Singapore, including rented flats, shared homes and family units. Cleaners are trained, background-checked and insured, and on recurring plans we do our best to send the same person each time. Tenants and landlords both like that there are no agency fees, levies or contracts: regular cleaning is $23 per hour, on-demand ad-hoc is $26 per hour, and a first trial is $20 per hour. You provide the supplies, which keeps costs transparent.

Frequently asked questions
Can flatmates share the cost of one cleaner?
Yes. Many shared households book one cleaner for the common areas and split the bill. It works best when one person handles the booking and payment, and everyone agrees in advance which rooms are included.
Do you clean rented rooms while the tenant is out?
We clean whatever the person who books agrees to. For rented rooms, landlords and tenants should agree beforehand on access, and someone should be available to let the cleaner in or arrange entry.
How soon after a tenant moves out should I book a clean?
As soon as the flat is empty. Cleaning an empty flat is faster and more thorough, and it gives you time to photograph the condition before the next tenant views or moves in.
Will a cleaner make my old Clementi bathroom look new?
A thorough clean removes soap scum, limescale and surface mould, and usually makes an older bathroom look much fresher. It cannot fix cracked tiles, worn enamel or grout that has eroded, which need repair.
