When to Book a Cleaner in Singapore: Busiest Times and How to Get a Slot
27 October 20267 min read
Quick answer: In our bookings, the weeks before Chinese New Year are by far the busiest time of year to get a cleaner in Singapore, so book your pre-CNY clean several weeks ahead. For Chinese New Year 2027, which falls on Saturday 6 February, that means sorting out a slot in December or early January. Customers on a weekly or fortnightly plan get priority scheduling, which is the most reliable way to avoid the rush.
Most of the year, getting a cleaner in Singapore is easy. You can often book a few days ahead, and same-day on-demand service is sometimes possible. The exception is the run-up to the Lunar New Year, when it seems every household wants a spotless home in the same fortnight. Here is what drives the busy periods, how far ahead to plan, and how to make sure you are not left scrubbing on reunion dinner eve.
Why is Chinese New Year the busiest time to book a cleaner?
From our own bookings, Chinese New Year is the peak of the year by a wide margin. That is no surprise to anyone who grew up here. Cleaning the house before the new year is a long-standing tradition: the idea is to sweep away the bad luck of the old year and make room for good fortune in the new one. Many families also avoid sweeping on the first days of the new year itself, so the cleaning all has to happen before it.
On top of tradition, there are practical reasons:
- Visitors. Relatives and friends come round for house visits, so the living room, kitchen and guest bathroom are on show.
- Hosting. Reunion dinners at home mean heavy cooking, and the kitchen needs a proper reset before and after.
- Fixed deadline. Unlike a spring clean you can push back a week, the new year arrives on a fixed date. Everyone books for the same narrow window.
That last point is what creates the crunch. Demand bunches into the two or three weeks before the festival, and the slots closest to the eve go first.
When is Chinese New Year 2027?
According to the Ministry of Manpower's list of public holidays for 2027, Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 February and Sunday 7 February 2027, with Monday 8 February a public holiday because the second day lands on a Sunday. The reunion dinner is on the eve, Friday 5 February.
That puts the busiest cleaning window roughly from mid-January to the first days of February 2027. For a week-by-week plan of what to clean and when, see our Chinese New Year 2027 cleaning timeline.
Other times of year that tend to be busier
We only have clear evidence about Chinese New Year from our own bookings, so treat the rest of this list as general patterns rather than measured peaks. These are periods when many households want cleaning done at about the same time:
| Period | Why demand tends to rise | How far ahead to book |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks before Chinese New Year | Tradition, house visits, fixed date | Several weeks; the earlier the better |
| Before Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali | Open houses and family visits | A couple of weeks |
| December and the year-end school holidays | Christmas hosting, guests staying over, year-end resets | A couple of weeks |
| Key collection and moving dates | Move-in and move-out cleans have to fit a handover date | As soon as you know your date |
| After renovation works finish | Post-renovation cleans must happen before moving in | Once the contractor confirms an end date |
For 2027, the MOM holiday list puts Hari Raya Puasa on Wednesday 10 March and Deepavali on Thursday 28 October. Our Singapore home cleaning calendar for 2027 maps these dates against the monsoon and haze seasons, and the Christmas and year-end cleaning guide covers what to prioritise before December guests arrive.
A practical booking timeline for a pre-CNY clean
Use this as a rough plan. The point is to decide early, not to do everything early.
- Six to eight weeks before (mid-December). Decide what kind of clean you need: a regular session to tidy up, or a longer deep clean covering cabinets, grilles, fans and windows. Check you have the supplies, because our cleaners use the products and equipment you provide.
- Four to six weeks before (late December to early January). Book your slot. If you want a specific date, such as the weekend before the eve, this is when to lock it in.
- Three to four weeks before. Do your own decluttering. Clearing out old newspapers, expired food and unused items before the cleaner comes means paid time goes on cleaning, not sorting.
- One to two weeks before. The clean itself. Booking it a little earlier than the final weekend leaves time to fix anything you are not happy with and keeps the last few days free for shopping and cooking.
- The last few days. A quick touch-up of floors and the guest bathroom is usually all that is needed if the main clean was done well.
If you are booking late, be flexible. A weekday morning is far easier to find than a Saturday in the final week.
How do recurring customers get priority?
This is the simplest way to avoid the scramble. Customers on a weekly or fortnightly plan get priority scheduling, so your regular slot is already in the diary when demand spikes. You also pay $23/hr on a recurring plan instead of $26/hr for on-demand ad-hoc bookings, and we do our best to send the same cleaner each visit.
There is a second, less obvious benefit. A home that is cleaned regularly does not need a marathon session before the new year. In our bookings, the most common session is 3 hours, and a regular clean of a 4-room HDB flat typically takes about that long. Homes on a schedule tend to stay within that length even before the festival, because there is no months-long build-up of grease and dust to clear. If you are weighing up frequency, our comparison of weekly vs fortnightly cleaning explains which suits which household.
What to do if every slot is taken
- Ask for a weekday. Weekday daytime slots are usually the last to fill.
- Split the job. Book a shorter session for the kitchen and bathrooms, and handle the bedrooms yourself.
- Clean after the festival instead. A post-CNY reset, after the guests and the cooking, is a perfectly good time for a deep clean, and demand eases quickly once the holidays are over.
- Prioritise. Our Chinese New Year cleaning checklist helps you decide which jobs matter most if time is short.

Frequently asked questions
How early should I book a cleaner before Chinese New Year?
Aim to book four to six weeks ahead, so by late December or early January for Chinese New Year 2027. Chinese New Year is our busiest period by far, and the weekend slots closest to the eve go first.
Is same-day cleaning available in the weeks before CNY?
Same-day on-demand service is available at other times of year, but it is much harder to get during the pre-CNY rush. If you need a clean before the festival, book ahead rather than relying on a last-minute slot.
Do recurring customers really get priority before Chinese New Year?
Yes. Priority scheduling is part of the weekly and fortnightly plan, so regular customers already have their slot reserved when the busy weeks arrive.
Is it better to deep clean before or after Chinese New Year?
Before is traditional, and it means the home is ready for visitors. If you cannot get a slot, a deep clean in the weeks after the festival is easier to book and deals with the mess from hosting.
Beat the pre-CNY rush: set up a weekly or fortnightly plan now and your slot is already reserved when the festive weeks arrive, at $23/hr. Prefer to chat first? WhatsApp us on +65 8166 0891.
